How to Find Right Keywords
SEO

The most important step regarding search engine optimization is to identify the keywords for each page. The keywords are the search terms that users will type into a search engine to find your page. The best keywords aren’t the ones you think should be in the site. The best keywords also aren’t the ones that produce the most traffic. Your best keywords are the ones that produce conversions. A number of tools and resources are available to help you to find keywords. Your goal should be about two or three keyword phrases per target page.

Google’s Keyword Tool:

You can enter a few keywords, and Google’s Keyword Tool shows you additional keywords. In addition, it looks at a web page and recommends keywords for that page. If you have a well-written, focused page, Google will give you lots of good keywords. This also means you can enter your competitors’ websites and get keywords for those pages. You can enter competitor pages, Wikipedia pages, industry sites, and so on. This tool is in your AdWords account. You can also use it without AdWords by going to https://adwords.google.com/select/keywordsandbox.

You can find additional keyword research tools at Wordtracker.com and KeywordDiscovery.com. Many people like these tools, and you should try them out.

Analytics:

The best keywords will be in your analytical report. The keyword reports in analytics will show you the keywords that visitors used to find your site. Better yet, it will show you the keywords that customers used. These are the keywords that produce conversions.

Competitors’ meta-keyword tag:

Visit your top five competitors’ websites, select View | Source, and look at the tags in the <HEAD> section. Print out their product pages and look for keywords.

Misspellings:

Add misspellings to your keyword list. For example, add ProWebEarnig. Search for ProWebEarnig and see how many have misspelled it. Add these misspellings at the bottom of your page by writing “Were you looking for ProWebEarning? Here is “Prowebearnig.” That lets the search engines index the misspelling on your page.

In your research, you may find several thousand keywords. But which ones get the most traffic? Set up an AdWords account, add the keywords, and let it run for several weeks. AdWords will show you which keywords actually get clicks.
